Air Fried Banana Blossom
For a crispy, vegan fish fillet with less oil, try the air fryer! Marinade overnight for the most flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 package Upton’s Naturals Banana Blossom
Marinade:
- lemon juice
- sprinkle of kelp granules
Wet batter:
- 1 cup flour
- ½ teaspoons salt
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin optional
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika optional
- black pepper
- ½ – 1 tsp 1 tsp kelp granules optional
- ¾ – 1 cup water
Coating:
- 1 – 1 ½ cups preferred bread crumbs panko, gluten free, etc.
- sprinkle of salt and/or kelp granules optional
Instructions
- Remove Banana Blossom from package, gently pat dry with paper towel. Place on a small plate or in a shallow bowl, and squeeze fresh lemon juice over the blossoms. Sprinkle some kelp granules on each side. Set aside. (This step can be done the night before for a stronger flavor.)
- In a bowl large enough to dip each blossom into, mix together all of the wet batter ingredients except the water.
- Add water a little at a time, stirring. The batter should be smooth and creamy, but not watery.
- Place the breadcrumbs in a shallow bowl.
- Dip each blossom first in the wet batter, then press into the bread crumbs taking care to coat both sides.
- Cook in the air fryer and cook at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes, flipping halfway through, depending on your model of fryer.
- Serve while hot!
