Ingredients

  • 1 package Upton’s Naturals Banana Blossom

Marinade:

  • lemon juice
  • sprinkle of kelp granules

Wet batter:

  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin optional
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika optional
  • black pepper
  • ½ – 1 tsp 1 tsp kelp granules optional
  • ¾ – 1 cup water

Coating:

  • 1 – 1 ½ cups preferred bread crumbs panko, gluten free, etc.
  • sprinkle of salt and/or kelp granules optional

Instructions

  • Remove Banana Blossom from package, gently pat dry with paper towel. Place on a small plate or in a shallow bowl, and squeeze fresh lemon juice over the blossoms. Sprinkle some kelp granules on each side. Set aside. (This step can be done the night before for a stronger flavor.)
  • In a bowl large enough to dip each blossom into, mix together all of the wet batter ingredients except the water.
  • Add water a little at a time, stirring. The batter should be smooth and creamy, but not watery.
  • Place the breadcrumbs in a shallow bowl.
  • Dip each blossom first in the wet batter, then press into the bread crumbs taking care to coat both sides.
  • Cook in the air fryer and cook at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes, flipping halfway through, depending on your model of fryer.
  • Serve while hot!
