Almost Homemade Italian Seitan Stovetop Stuffing
Upgrade store-bought stuffing mix with some fresh herbs, veggies, and flavorful Italian Seitan.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons vegan butter
- ½ yellow or white onion diced
- 1 carrot thinly sliced
- 1 celery rib chopped
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 8 oz package Upton's Naturals Italian Seitan
- 1 ½ cups vegetable broth
- 1 teaspoon dried sage
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- 10 oz vegan stovetop stuffing mix see notes
- Freshly chopped parsley optional, garnish
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion, carrot, celery, and seitan and cook 5–7 minutes or until the vegetables are soft and onions are translucent. Add the garlic and cook one additional minute until fragrant.
- Add the vegetable broth, sage, rosemary, thyme, and salt; stir until everything is well combined. Bring the broth to a bubble, then turn off the heat. Add the stuffing mix and stir to combine everything. Cover with a lid and let sit for 5 minutes.
- Remove the lid and fluff the stuffing. Transfer to a serving dish; garnish with fresh parsley, if desired. Serve hot.
