Ingredients

  • 1 & ½ cups plain, unsweetened nondairy milk
  • 2 Tbs apple cider vinegar
  • 5 Tbs good quality vegan butter
  • 2 & ½ cups all purpose flour
  • 1 Tbs cane sugar
  • 1 Tbs baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup shredded vegan cheddar
  • 2 oz Upton's Naturals Bacon Seitan chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
  • Combine milk and apple cider vinegar and set aside to thicken, about 5 minutes.
  • Add butter to an 8×8" pan and place in the oven for 2-4 minutes, until butter has melted.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Use a wooden spoon to stir in the milk mixture. Mix until almost fully combined, but not fully combined.
  • Fold in cheddar and Bacon Seitan.
  • Add the dough on top of the melted butter, using a spatula to spread it into the corners.
  • Use a butter knife to score the unbaked biscuit, making three lines in one direction and three lines the other way so you have nine squares.
  • Bake 23-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Cool slightly. Best served warm.
