Buttered Pan Bacon Cheddar Biscuits
This recipe was adapted with permission from Epic Vegan Quick-and-Easy by Dustin Harder. You won't believe how flaky and buttery these biscuits are, and best of all, they take less than 30 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 & ½ cups plain, unsweetened nondairy milk
- 2 Tbs apple cider vinegar
- 5 Tbs good quality vegan butter
- 2 & ½ cups all purpose flour
- 1 Tbs cane sugar
- 1 Tbs baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup shredded vegan cheddar
- 2 oz Upton's Naturals Bacon Seitan chopped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
- Combine milk and apple cider vinegar and set aside to thicken, about 5 minutes.
- Add butter to an 8×8" pan and place in the oven for 2-4 minutes, until butter has melted.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Use a wooden spoon to stir in the milk mixture. Mix until almost fully combined, but not fully combined.
- Fold in cheddar and Bacon Seitan.
- Add the dough on top of the melted butter, using a spatula to spread it into the corners.
- Use a butter knife to score the unbaked biscuit, making three lines in one direction and three lines the other way so you have nine squares.
- Bake 23-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Cool slightly. Best served warm.
